Farewell Old Friend

My trusty old Basset Hound, Noah succumbed to illness and passed away on New Year's Day, he was 11 years old (77 in dog years).

I will miss his resounding bark, his voracious appetite, his familiar smell, and his assuring companionship that he expresses every time we meet.

Porschia has big paws to fill in making me laugh like Noah did.

I read somewhere that the soul of a dog dies when their body goes. I hope that isn't true because I can't imagine heaven without dogs.

Heaven has a new denizen who will greet newcomers with a "welcome bark."

The writer Milan Kundera wrote, "Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring, it was peace."

Farewell Noah, thanks for your unconditional love.

Woof, woof :-)
